CRM & Sales Software Pricing Comparison 2026
60 CRM and sales tools compared: every tier, free tier limits, pricing models, and notable catches — including Gong's hidden platform fee and HubSpot's 2024 contact cap change.
Two things changed in the CRM market in the last 18 months that most buyers haven't caught up with yet.
First: HubSpot quietly capped their free tier at 1,000 contacts in September 2024. It used to be 1 million. If your team outgrew the free plan before that date and you're recommending it to peers as "basically unlimited free," that's no longer true.
Second: Gong's pricing includes a platform fee of $5,000–$50,000 per year on top of the per-user rate. Almost nobody budgets for this. It appears in the fine print after the sales call, and it's the reason Gong deals blow up at legal or finance review more often than any other sales tech tool.

The Numbers Behind the Table
HubSpot's September 2024 contact cap: The free CRM now limits you to 1,000 contacts. Previously this was effectively unlimited (1 million). This caught a large number of teams who built workflows on the free tier. If you're recommending HubSpot free to teams, they need to know the 1,000 contact limit.
Gong's platform fee: The $5,000–$50,000/year platform fee is separate from the per-user licensing cost. For a 20-person sales team at $108/user/mo, you're looking at $25,920/year in user fees plus the platform fee. Budget total Gong cost at $35,000–$75,000+/year for a 20-person team.
Apollo.io's free tier: 10,000 email credits per year is generous enough for real prospecting. This makes Apollo functionally the only major sales engagement platform with a usable free tier.
Salesforce vs. HubSpot at the starter tier: Salesforce at $25/user/mo looks cheaper than HubSpot at $20/user/mo, until you realize HubSpot's free tier may work for small teams, and Salesforce's starter tier has stricter feature gates.
